The last thing you want to worry about while going through a major life upheaval like a divorce or child custody situation is how many hours your attorney is going to bill you for. Or worse yet, what your attorney is actually doing during those hours that’s of use to you. Having to deal with hourly billing can be incredibly stressful. No one needs that kind of stress.
At Davis & Associates, we understand this. We wholeheartedly agree. We’re here to make the lives of our clients easier, not more difficult. Instead of operating on a pricing structure that charges clients hourly, we’ve taken the guesswork out of the equation altogether. We operate using a custom payment system that focuses on the exact needs of our clients and those needs alone. No guessing. No surprises.
We charge clients a fixed monthly rate after the initial month’s rate which covers most court filing fees. These fixed rates are individually tailored to the needs of the client’s case and situation. These rates take everything into account—from filing fees to costs for discovery, research, case review, and more—and lets clients know exactly what they’ll be paying and when.

The simple answer is that hourly rates tend to be the standard for family law practices. Tradition sticks. Technology makes hourly billing much less necessary, however, due to how streamlined and accurate most law office tasks, processes, and plans of operation have become.
We believe in doing everything we can to help our clients through a difficult time in their lives. Transparency matters. Efficiency matters. This pricing structure allows us to provide transparency to our clients while ensuring our staff can focus on excellent results.
The first month will always include many of the costliest fees, including the initial court filing fees and discovery fees. After the initial month, the monthly rate will drop significantly.
If there are any third-party fees such as private investigator fees, court reporting fees, or fees for ancillary cases, these will often be separate. The costs of a trial if one occurs are also handled separately since trial costs can vary by a large amount.
We don’t. The needs of every divorce or family law case will vary from one to the next. The amount you are billed for will depend on many factors, from the type of your case to your location, the amount of filings that will be necessary, and the level of research and discovery that will be necessary
