Overview

Alexis Lara is a family law attorney dedicated to helping individuals and families navigate complex legal matters with compassion, professionalism, and practical guidance. Fluent in both English and Spanish, she proudly serves English- and Spanish-speaking clients, ensuring they understand the legal process and feel supported every step of the way. Her practice focuses on family law, where she advocates for clients in matters involving divorce, child custody, child support, modifications, enforcement actions, protective orders, and other domestic relations issues.

Before pursuing a legal career, Alexis earned a Bachelor of Science in Teaching and Learning, magna cum laude, from the University of Houston. She began her professional career as a first- and fourth-grade teacher, where she developed a deep appreciation for advocating for children and supporting families. Her experience as an educator instilled in her a lasting commitment to serving the best interests of children—a principle that continues to guide her approach to family law today.

Alexis earned her Juris Doctor from Texas Southern University Thurgood Marshall School of Law, where she was recognized on the Dean’s List. During law school, she gained valuable litigation experience as a Law Student Intern with the Harris County District Attorney’s Office in the Domestic Violence Division, assisting with protective order cases, and as a Law Clerk handling immigration matters. She was also selected to participate in the prestigious Madrid Summer Law Institute, where she studied international business transactions and European Union law, broadening her understanding of international legal systems and cross-border legal issues.

Prior to joining Davis & Associates, Alexis served as a Staff Attorney with Kids in Need of Defense (KIND), where she represented unaccompanied immigrant children in immigration and state court proceedings, including Special Immigrant Juvenile Status (SIJS) and asylum matters. She also mentored pro bono attorneys and collaborated with community partners to help ensure high-quality legal representation for vulnerable youth. These experiences strengthened her advocacy skills while reinforcing her dedication to protecting children and supporting families through difficult circumstances.

Today, Alexis represents clients throughout the Greater Houston area in a wide range of family law matters. She combines thoughtful legal analysis with a client-centered approach, striving to ensure clients understand their options and feel supported throughout every stage of the legal process. Alexis is committed to providing diligent advocacy while working toward practical and effective resolutions tailored to each client’s unique circumstances.
